ok, so what is a visual journalist? do i design pages? nope. take pictures?  nope.

make infographics or do data visualization? well, yes... but there's more!

essentially, my brand of visual journalism is a strange and wonderful mix of left-

brain/right-brain storytelling. i spent 15 years at the new york times where i was

trained to report the story from the ground up, find the visual language to

translate it, then write, chart, draw, edit and produce information graphics. as a

graphics editor i've run teams, managed big data projects, worked as an art

director, an editor, a reporter, a writer, producer, designer and evangelist for

news and infographics in all their various forms — from  analogue to digital.
